Well, summer is on its way out, and so am I: I’ll be out playing drums with Matt Woods and the Natural Disasters for the month of September. You can see all the Matt Woods show dates here on this website or visit www.therealmattwoods.com. The last couple months have been busy! Just after making a temporary move up to the mountains of West Virginia, I made my first trip to the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I played a wonderful event for a 50th anniversary party, the Pour House Pub in Chester MD, and picked…Read more
Home after a little 2 week run playing drums for JP Harris. It was a blast! We began the tour at Red Wing Roots Festival in VA, followed by 4 days at the Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival’s Culture Camp, with additional gigs scattered before and after. At Culture Camp, I taught 2 workshops a day, which included a kids’ introduction to percussion and an improv class with Brock Henderson and Geoff Henderson. I'm thrilled to be adding more solo dates to my calendar this spring. I've got a few booked already and more to come. Most will be in Knoxville or the near vicinity, as Moriah and I are trying to spend what little free time we have getting Busingham Palace ready for the road. (Don't know about Busingham Palace? Check out my blog post about it!) So click on over to the "Shows" page and see what I've got lined up! Hope you can make it out to hear me!
Hi, everybody! Just booked a gig at Barleys. Meade, Jessica, and I will be playing on Sunday, March 4, starting at 8pm. Hope to see you there!
Check out this song I've been working on!
That's a wrap! Recording sessions for the Jon Whitlock Trio debut album have come to a close. Just a few more fader moves and we'll be sending it off to be finished. The album was recorded by Scott Minor in his studio here in Knoxville, TN. Alongside Meade Armstrong on fiddle, vocals, and keys, and Jessica Watson on banjo, acoustic guitar, and banjo uke, we have some special guests as well. Did someone say tuba? Be looking out for it in early March.
We're hitting the road this spring... in a new way. I'll be taking my home on the road full time, in this 2003 International School Bus that my wonderful partner-in-adventure, Moriah, and I are converting into our next luxury home. A.K.A. Busingham Palace. After traveling for the better part of twenty years, it's time to fill in the gaps with new places, old friends, family, and more music. Be looking for updates in the months ahead, as we get closer to packing up our home, dogs, new records (both mine and…Read more
